Translation Quality Assurance

Refining and Perfecting Your Translated Content

What is Translation Quality Assurance?

The quality and relevance of your localized brand content can make or break campaigns. DashWord helps groups that are creating or translating brand content to achieve a high-performing, polished result that captures the spirit and meaning of their original brand message. On-time, and at reasonable expense. The scope of TQA extends from editing translated copy through to retouching graphics and assessing a campaign for cultural fit. Our quality assurance support services include website/application testing, simple and complex post-editing of machine translations, cultural consultancy, artwork review, and adapting graphic assets into the target language

Arabic Language Quality Assurance Services

Software and web developers always need user acceptance testing (UAT) and user interface evaluation, but they rarely have a complete set of language competencies in house. DashWord helps development houses and end clients bridge that gap and deliver a consistently high quality experience to their foreign language user base. We’ll kick all the UX tires and follow your test scripts to ferret out bugs and glitches. What issues do we typically discover? When adapted to a right-to-left (RTL) language like Arabic, your finely crafted user interface may wrap or break in unintended ways. Arabic translation often adds about 25% to the length of text areas. As seasoned UAT pros in Arabic and other languages, we’ll find these issues so your dev team can fix them – before your end-users ever see them.

Arabic Language Post-editing

DashWord recognizes the economy and speed that our end clients gain from using bulk machine translations. The speed is unbeatable and grammatical correctness is continually improving, but precision and readability have not yet reached levels acceptable for critical technical passages, let alone culturally appropriate brand messaging. We offer three grades of post-editing, to suit our clients’ budgets and content strategies.

  • Light post-editing consists of taking a cursory second pass at a machine translation – or an outsourced translation – to ensure that it passes a “sanity check” – omits any gross factual errors or culturally offensive references. The result may be robotic at times, but it is sufficiently clear and accurate for a reader to understand. This level of attention could suffice for very high volume internal communication projects.
  • Complex post-editing, on the other hand, goes the full distance to provide an entirely accurate and culturally appropriate text. This most sensitive level of review ensures that an end-user, client or customer will not notice anything unusual, foreign, robotic, jarring or incorrect about the translated passage.
  • Medium-depth post-editing falls somewhere in the middle – all spelling errors are fixed, most grammatical issues are remediated, and the content is factually and technically correct.

The proliferation and popularity of machine translations and freelancer services has created a significant demand for higher-level editors to refine and polish translations that are a little robotic-sounding or rough around the edges. DashWord will be happy to provide a quote for your post-editing project in Arabic and other languages.

Cultural Consultancy

This highly nuanced service really deserves a place of its own, but we include it here because it complements our other foreign language quality assurance service offerings. When translating content or developing a new foreign market communications campaign, it makes sense to know whether all concepts, offers, key selling points and branded images are appropriate for the target market. DashWord can get involved early in the process, for example while building storyboards for a multimedia campaign, or late in the creative process, to provide a cultural “sanity check” before a new website or a press release goes public. Our transcreation experts are so thorough, worldly and wise, they’ll make you feel like DashWord wrote the book on cross-cultural etiquette.
